Lux Phull

Bio

Lux Phull was born July 15, 1977, in London, UK. His musical journey began as a young child, when he learned to play the Indian percussion instrument called the tabla. He enjoyed playing the tabla at the Gurudwara, whilst listening to the Shabads taking note of the tabla player.

As time went on, Lux found his musical ear infused with the diverse music he was brought up on. Influences ranged from the pure traditional sounds of Gurdas Mann and Hans Raj Hans to ‘80s white trouser ‘n shirt bands Alaap and Heera, and the magical sounds of Michael Jackson. Not to be forgotten by his ear are the creations of pure dance producers like Armand Van Helden and Daft Punk, and various reggae beats. Nowadays, Lux’s influences are artists such as Kanwar Grewal, Nooran Sisters, Lakhwinder Wadali, to name just a few.

Lux continues to work on his music journey with his mentor Shan Verma, Ustad Ji, and the musical genius Govind Bhachu. Currently working on diverse and unique musical projects, these artists are ones to watch.

Throughout the years, Lux has been learning to play the piano. He continues to play piano, as well as taking on skills related to the producing of music. He is proficient at using studio equipment that ranges from sound modules to mixing desks, Cubase and Sound Forge software. Throughout his life, Lux has lived by the philosophy that it is important always to be learning.

While Lux is continually trying new things in the music field, his passion for music is just one part of his life. In 2001, he graduated from university with a Bachelor of Science degree in Multimedia Computing. Lux combines this higher education with his web design skills to produce and implement websites.

As a determined spirit, Lux refuses to be deterred by an event that occurred 20 years ago. The event drastically changed his daily life as it left him paralyzed from the waist down. Despite the event’s severity, it has not stopped him from achieving so much in life. From that day forward, he has been determined to continue not only surrounding himself with music, but to release music of his own.

While Lux recognizes that he has faced hard times, he takes pride in his physical improvements and refuses to let things get to him. The difficult events, he believes, have made him a much stronger, more positive and a very determined person.

Recent achievements for Lux Phull are numerous. Highlights include being signed to the highly-regarded SpeakerBoxx Records label, and radio play of his debut single “Majajan” on the Dipps Bhamrah show (aired on the BBC Asian network). “Majajan” is released on the SpeakerBoxx label and is currently available on all digital platforms.
